The Turner Wingo Variations

$30.00 Including Sales Tax

The Turner Wingo Variations is named after the Turner Wingo Auditorium, a lecture/performance hall on the Mississippi State University campus. It is occasionally used for performances by music students and faculty, despite being located far from the Department of Music buildings. While this discourages the use of traditional large percussion instruments, small set-up pieces using instruments that can fit in a backpack or be carried are ideal. Turner Wingo is a retired businessman and previous Mississippi State University National Alumnus of the Year. When performing The Turner Wingo Variations, all three players should strive for a wide spectrum of sounds between the three woodblocks. Ideally, all three instruments should be pitched as wide apart while still maintaining complementary timbres across the ensemble. If desired, performers could substitute other instruments in place of woodblocks, such as cowbells or muted gongs.
