“Mais Peças” was written as an encore for my solo recitals. However, in essence, it is an etude designed to work on shaping and inflection with the 1234-243 permutation.
Two of the pieces I have kept in my hands for encores or clinics is Michael Burritt’s “Prelude No. 5” and Daniel Berg’s “Over the Moon.” They are both wonderful and fun to perform, but I wanted to begin writing my own works for the instrument. I finished this piece after returning home from performing in Recife, PE Brazil in August of 2018. This was my second trip to this beautiful city and, during this return trip, I was able to see many more parts of the region. The title translates to “more parts” and the music is generated from this idea.
